Textile sector of Bangladesh is facing drastic technological transition for the last few years. Modern automated machines are taking places of physical labour. The workers of this sector do not have enough skills or alternative job to face these technological transition. On the other hand global warming is also posing a threat to the textile sector both in workplace and in the household of workers.
In this complex situation a Just Transition is much needed for the workers of textile industry in Bangladesh. With a view to discussing the issue and future roadmap, a dialogue titled ”Technology Transition and Impact of Climate Change Textile Sector of Bangladesh: necessity of Just Transition for the Workers” took place with Trade Union Federation, CSOs and other stakeholders at Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka on 9th June, 2024.
